Of those 3, I would say Lohse gives the most unique perspective on the story. Lohse, Red, and Sebille (in that order imo) all have great personal stories that make them gret recruits to bring in your party. Fane also has mechanically speaking the best unique source skill in the game, and has some options down the line for more morality based choices. You could also make this guy a summoner as well if you want, the more summons, the better.Ifan's is very closely tied to the main plot, but in a way that makes his story feel kind of pointless, and it doesn't really add much actual story to the base plot.įane's is also very closely tied, but in a way that actually feels like his current decisions matter, while Ifan's story is mostly about what he did prior to the game's start. They can have a couple of points on the other magic schools as well for some great support spells. If you insist on playing classic mode with 3 characters, you might want to consider making your mage a necromancer instead, as necro damage is physical. I honestly can't remember the huntsman starting skills, you can Google that if you want. My ranger i usually also make a summoner and if you plan on only having 3 characters you should really do that. For the last skill i would take battering ram if i plan to be two handed and bouncing shield if i plan to use a shield. For melee i would start with metamoroh, put one point in poly and one in warfare, then choose Bull horns and battle stomp. On classic i would highly recommend getting a companion, unless at least one of you is an expert.Ĭlass doesn't really matter much, it just let's you pick certain skills at the beginning. If you play on Explorer you can probably get away with only 3 characters, having the last guy be a mage. Geo/pyro and aero/hydro are generally considered the best combinations. So you can do two mages of different types if you recruit a 4th companion. If it's your first time playing my opinion is that you miss a lot of cool game mechanics if you play without a spell caster. So a str melee guy and a fin ranger guy works great. If you keep this is mind you can basically do any sort of character you want, with some of course being more effective.Īs you state it is a good idea to not have your characters fight over the best armour and weapons. It is generally best to focus on either one type for all characters or have two characters who do each type. There are two types of damage in the game: physical and magical. Will you be playing just the 3 of you or will you recruit a 4th companion? If all of you are newbies 3 characters will probably be a challenge, depending on the difficulty of course.
